WHERE IN TEXAS?
This lighthouse, which opened in 1857, was one of the original Texas stations of the U.S. Lighthouse Service built to guide ships along the Texas coast. It survived wars and hurricanes before being decommissioned in the 1950s. Texas' first paddling trail was established in 1999 in the surrounding estuary, sloughs and back lakes.
