Port Isabel Lighthouse

Originally built in 1852, Port Isabel’s 72-foot lighthouse is the last Texas lighthouse open to the public. Climb 75 winding stairs , including three short ladders, to take in unparalleled views of Port Isabel, South Padre Island and the Laguna Madre.

Aransas Pathways

Rockport and Fulton are known for offering an engaging array of outdoor pursuits. Head to the Pathways Center Pavilion on Tule Creek to find an activity that intrigues you, whether it's birding at the nearby Shellcrete Birding and Nature Site or kayaking at Copano Bay.

South Texas Ecotourism Center

The first (and only!) ecotourism center in the state of Texas, the South Texas Ecotourism Center highlights the five major ecosystems of South Texas. Come early each morning from 9 to 11 a.m. and enjoy coffee with the birds!

Choke Canyon State Park

Located between San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Choke Canyon offers first-class fishing and is one of Texas’ finest places to watch birds. Sports more your thing? The park also features basketball and tennis courts, as well as a soccer pitch.

Popeye Statues

In the 1930s, Crystal City proclaimed itself the World Spinach Capital. And where there’s spinach, there’s Popeye. Crystal City is home to not one, but two statues of the character — one located in front of City Hall, the other inside the Chamber of Commerce.
