Big changes are coming to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine website!
Starting this August, visitors will enjoy a more visually appealing mobile-friendly version of TPWMagazine.com designed to look great on any screen - whether you're reading stories from a phone, tablet or desktop computer.
“We are thrilled to turn the page on this next chapter for the magazine, and to be bringing our readers along for the ride,” said April Cumming, publisher of Texas Parks & Wildlife magazine. “The new magazine website offers a beautifully enhanced, user-friendly reading experience, while also serving as a stronger reflection of the natural beauty found within the pages of our print publication.”
Help Shape the New Site
There's one small challenge. Migrating over 20 years of stories to the new website will take time.
The initial launch will feature the most recent issues, but with hundreds great stories online, the Magazine team wants your help deciding which archived articles to move to the front of the queue.
Evolving with the Times
Known as the oldest continuously published magazine in Texas, Texas Parks &Wildlife magazine got its start in December 1942 as Texas Game & Fish, offering readers a peaceful escape from the stress of the war by transporting them through “the invigorating spirit of the outdoors.”
The magazine added an online version in 2001 and launched a mobile app in 2015. But with limited resources and a tight monthly publishing schedule, a full website overhaul had to wait.
“This upgrade has been a long time in the making,” said Cumming. “Transitioning from the old to the new has been the epitome of a team effort. It's been a rewarding process of remembering where the magazine has been and where it's going. Good things truly do come to those who wait and our team is looking forward to growing the site beyond just magazine content - with plans for videos, podcasts, TPWD merch store and more.”
