in Houston Rodeo’s
90th Anniversary

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo announced a return to celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2022, scheduled for 21 days (February 28 through March 20), with George Strait headlining. There’s a new event for cowgirls, too: women’s breakaway roping.

The event has been canceled for two straight years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo promotes agriculture by hosting an annual, family-friendly experience that educates and entertains the public, supports Texas youth, showcases Western heritage and provides year-round educational support within the community. Since its beginning in 1932, the Rodeo has committed more than $500 million to the youth of Texas and education. 

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has had a presence at the event for decades. This year, find us at the Ranching and Wildlife Expo, which promotes conservation and the coexistence of ranching and wildlife habitats to an audience that is involved in hunting, fishing and camping. In addition to wildlife exhibits and educational seminars there, TPWD will host the Laser Shot Shooting Simulator and distribute hunter education information during the first week of the event. Come to the second floor of NRG Center, on the east end.
