Celebrate the State Park Centennial With S’mores
For some families, a campout isn’t complete without s’mores. Once the sun goes down and the campfire puts a glow on everyone’s faces, the kids start looking through the food bags for marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate. Some campers like their marshmallows a toasty brown; others stick them right in the fire for a crispy black exterior. Either way, the gooey goodness, sandwiched between chocolate and graham crackers, tastes just right.
On May 13, join Texas State Parks for the 100 S’more Years Celebration. Who needs cake? We’re celebrating the first 100 years of Texas State Parks (and 100 s’more years) with s’mores.
Parks across the state are hosting events. Come out to your nearby Texas State Park to experience many s’more-themed activities, including learning to make a traditional s’more and (for the adventurous eater) creating a s’more made of nontraditional ingredients. Construct your park favorite animal or building with s’mores, build the biggest s’more or participate in a s’more cookoff. Show off your picture-perfect s’mores via social media!
H-E-B is the presenting sponsor of the Texas State Park Centennial, and many H-E-B locations will have special s’mores stations set-up in their stores. If you can’t make it to the parks, join the fun with s’mores in your own backyard.
