The authors behind the Half Day Hikes series of trail guides have released the sixth book in their Texas State Parks Hiking Series. Palo Duro Canyon State Park, a hiker's paradise, takes the spotlight this time.
“Adventure awaits in the high plains of the Texas Panhandle,” says author Jenny Fuller, who collaborates with husband Robert.

The trail guide unlocks the majestic wonder of Palo Duro, known as the “Grand Canyon of Texas.” Palo Duro Canyon State Park boasts more than 27,000 acres of canyons and mesas, and with over 30 miles of multi-use trails, the park caters to hikers, bikers and horseback riders alike. The guide covers 16 hikes, with comprehensive maps, full-color photos, difficulty ratings, distance information and descriptions of the diverse landscapes encountered along the way.
The pocket-sized books are a convenient companion for state park hikers. Other guides include Big Bend Ranch, Franklin Mountains and Garner state parks, and Lost Maples and Hill Country state natural areas. They are available at the parks, certain REI stores and online.
Half Day Hikes donates 50 percent of the proceeds they receive from the sale of each book to the state park to support the ongoing management and maintenance of hiking trails and open spaces for recreational use.
